• If the mom was cheating she would just go out and cheat out of view and hearing distance of her teenage son. Too much liability to do it in the same house where the boy can interrupt at any time. The son is the one who told the police that she said was going out. So how did we get to the mysterious visiting stranger? This is the tale of a teenager who is not very good at lying.
• Speaking of which, the cover story of a psycho vindictive killer who is out for the blood of the family is the perfect cover to stoke the protective nature of the father. It's also a good distraction to prolong looking at the son.

Why would a hit be so sloppy. If you killing someone you want to be in and out so no one sees you. Stabbing someone 60 times takes time and leaves evidence.

Another dumb move by the boy because nowadays people who cheat lock their phone with a code or fingerprint. They're not just gonna have an unlocked phone where their family can read their cheating texts lol. The text was a last minute scheme to add to his cover because 1) She wasn't cheating so she doesn't have a lock on her phone and 2) if you really want to kill the whole family, why warn the family in question? Why not wait until they're done mourning and hit them up. Now they got security and are looking out for you. So yeah, it's the son.
