i thought nyc tried to get this year's olympics and london came through and styled on them.

I cant imagine the fukkery that would happen with the olympics in nyc. no way u could drive through there, the trains would be packed, and knowing mayor for life bloomberg he would have the olympic village locked up tighter than the pentagon.

Bloomberg and Hillary Clinton wanted the Olympics. New Yorkers came together and said "fukk THAT shyt".

The funny thing is that for 2 weeks, as long as I didn't enter Manhattan, I'd probably never notice the Olympics were here. It's the after effects that would wreck shyt for everyone else.

that would be a disaster :scusthov:

traffic already fukked up....imagine the world being in town for about 2 weeks :scusthov::scusthov::scusthov:
They tried to get this olympics, but were backed down by Chicago, iirc.

It was a joint Bmore/DC bid. The aquatic center was going to be at College Park CRC (they actually have a world class acquatic center. The US championships were there in 2003 or 2004, I cant remember.) RFK was going to be olympic stadium after renovations.

Cant remember what events BMore would have gotten.

If the area did get the olympics, the Purple Line light rail train would have already been created. Probably a few other Light Rail lines connecting DC and Bmore as well. Would add more metro lines/stations too.

Traffic would still be a disaster tho, but as long as they sped up these public transportation projects, I would be good with the 2 weeks of disaster because the long term affects would be better.

Honestly I want Philly to get in on this Olympic shyt. It's close enough for New Yorkers to enjoy while allowing the Olympics to fukk their city up. No-lose situation

philly would be america's best bet

only city in america with 4 major stadiums all next to eachother. plus numerous other stadiums in the city and easy set up for rowing on the river

great public transit already in place

airport expansion already under way

building an olympic village would be as simple as pulling up some cruise ships to the navy yard.

we put in a bid before but didn't get anywhere... partly because the OG mayor john street didn't bother to show up to his meeting with olympic committee people

Outside of LA and ATL I cant see the Olympics coming to the US....there is a reason it has been in America 3 times....:manny: I think DC would be a good host.
