My grandma lives on 156th and Courtlandt...Jackson pjs...haven't been there since like 07 though...
my homey lives on 153rd n cortland, melrose houses. in i think 2010 or 2011, jackson houses and melrose houses were at war(probably still are for all i know). i was going there almost everyday to smoke bud in his house and chill but it got so hot i stopped going like that. his brother in law was directly involved in that shyt and from my understanding him and his boys dropped a dude from jackson and then the jackson boys came and sprayed the front of my homeys building one night. my homey's brother in law took like 4 bullets and walked to lincoln hospital on his own
. they all survived but right after that police came and took almost everybody and whoever got away is living elsewhere now. havent seen any of them in 3 or 4 years.
Lived in NYC for ten years and only visited the Bronx for three reasons: 1) Yankees games; 2) the zoo; 3) the cloisters. And then I would get the hell out as quick as possible. Some areas are being gentrified, but others are worse than ever. Get your fam out, man.
cloisters is actually in washington heights/inwood area
before i moved to the bronx i used to stay hanging out there. when i first started driving around with my bx boys it felt like i was back in the crack era in some neighborhoods but others felt like suburbs. the bronx and brooklyn are very diverse hoods. you can walk for 15 minutes and see latinos, blacks, polacks, jews, hipsters, and asians within that 15 minute walk. the bx has alot of southeast asians near where i live. i even seen some vietnamese restaurants.
still its true what somebody said, bx is one of the last pieces of authentic new york remaining.
