When I went to school in Philly, a lot of my friends were always bugged out at how hood North Philly was. Once you drive a couple of blocks either east or west of Temple's main campus, you will be in a world of hood the likes of which you probably have not experienced unless you're from Baltimore or Camden.

I'm talking just blocks and blocks of alleys with like 6-7 nikkas all in there, all smoking either newports or blunts filled with what is likely TERRIBLE regs, and at least one of them has a biscuit on them.
This is true of my experiences in Philadelphia and baltimore...

Philly got no barrier or distinctions between neighborhoods at all...walk five blocks one way from temple Drexel and your in the hood.

My homey used to live above a barber shop in b more that got shot up...it was a front for yayo.

It's The Bronx. It's always pretty wild up there. Just stay clear of South Bronx and you'll be ok. The BX is actually pretty nice when you get further north.

South Bronx and Brownsville are like two of the last two strongholds of goondom in NYC.

shyt is very real out there.

River dale will make you feel like you are not in the city.
Narrow streets with greenery and little to no light :dwillhuh:

As gentrified as NYC is becoming watch all these fukkboys dissing the Bronx flocking to visit it since it's gonna be the only version of authentic New York left in a few years.
I agree.

At this point Brooklyn is finished.

Hipsters are infiltrating ridgewood, Queens and astoria...

White people are too afraid to go past Bushwick/Aberdeen or Wilson on the l. They are terrified of Broadway junction.

I can't imagine the gentrification of the Bronx will go well without getting really ugly.

If they gentrify the Bronx, where else will poor people live besides the most far flung secluded areas of Brooklyn and Queens. It's gonna happen anyway because that's what the New York elite want but, I can see a lot of shyt going down first.

It will get ugly... I could see people rioting against transplants coming into the bronx. And other acts of violence and an increase in crimes..

It's obvious that the powers that be want nyc to just be the rich gated community of the us..it's almost as if they want to flush out the poor and working classes to jersey and beyond.

I hope that doesn't happen too soon...but I don't think DeBlasio and what he's working for as far as the future of the city is concerned is gonna represent any significant change.

I know but a lot of people outside of and some in NY shyt on the BX like its Vietnam in the 60s. I consider it a great place and even tho it has its fukked up areas like most cities, I can go anywhere in the BX and feel like nothing will happen to me. I still got family in the hood and make my way there every week.

The wack shyt is that because the decision makers only consider some parts of the BX valuable, the rest suffers. The Bronx has the most homeless shelters in the city and some landlords would rather convert their buildings to shelters for single moms/homeless and then get city/state $$$ in exchange for it. This keeps the undesirables outta the other gentrified boroughs and turns the BX into a dumping ground.

They will spend $$$ to put up new Yankee stadium and shopping malls but no real investment stays/goes into the community. IMO, the Bronx would be a great place to both practice group economics and preserve the flavor of the city. But it won't happen when we let outsiders come in, do what the fukk they want and then leave.

BX is a sh!thole and rightfully so......Let the goons and bums stay there. :wiz:

Ain't nobody trying to shoulder hits in rental yields just so they can raise crime and devalue our property prices:nateholdon:

I gotta eat breh ...the homeless don't :leonadis:

Right, I actually liked the Bronx from the short time I stayed there. It's not that dangerous not like people masking it but still is pretty grimey.... But that good grimey with a lot of culture that New York is starting to loose cause gentrification and all the hipsters and tourists.

Just a different feel in the Bronx. :manny:

But um I never been Mott haven :sadcam:

My grandma lives on 156th and Courtlandt...Jackson pjs...haven't been there since like 07 though...

my homey lives on 153rd n cortland, melrose houses. in i think 2010 or 2011, jackson houses and melrose houses were at war(probably still are for all i know). i was going there almost everyday to smoke bud in his house and chill but it got so hot i stopped going like that. his brother in law was directly involved in that shyt and from my understanding him and his boys dropped a dude from jackson and then the jackson boys came and sprayed the front of my homeys building one night. my homey's brother in law took like 4 bullets and walked to lincoln hospital on his own :whew:. they all survived but right after that police came and took almost everybody and whoever got away is living elsewhere now. havent seen any of them in 3 or 4 years.

Lived in NYC for ten years and only visited the Bronx for three reasons: 1) Yankees games; 2) the zoo; 3) the cloisters. And then I would get the hell out as quick as possible. Some areas are being gentrified, but others are worse than ever. Get your fam out, man.

cloisters is actually in washington heights/inwood area

before i moved to the bronx i used to stay hanging out there. when i first started driving around with my bx boys it felt like i was back in the crack era in some neighborhoods but others felt like suburbs. the bronx and brooklyn are very diverse hoods. you can walk for 15 minutes and see latinos, blacks, polacks, jews, hipsters, and asians within that 15 minute walk. the bx has alot of southeast asians near where i live. i even seen some vietnamese restaurants.

still its true what somebody said, bx is one of the last pieces of authentic new york remaining.
