Head to head, I've like NXT better 3 out of 5 weeks. The first two weeks and this week's episode. It's interesting that both shows keep dropping in the ratings. It definitely helps their chances of survival that ratings are low across the board. Excluding the news, they would both be in the top 15 shows on cable. Overall, I think NXT is the best wrestling show on tv. AEW is #2. The live crowd at AEW makes it a funner experience to watch. NXT is better top-to-bottom, but it looks indy. NXT looks like it should be getting the ratings it does. Hopefully NXT leaves Full Sail a couple times of month to freshen up the show. AEW needs to find it's direction. It needs to decide if it wants to be ECW or a place where rules matter. I think 2020 both shows will hit there groove and figure it out.

In this case, though, we're talking Game 7 of the World Series. It average 23 million viewers throughout the whole game and peaked at 27 million.

It was the most viewed thing all year after the Super Bowl and Oscars.

unfortunate ratings for AEW. hopefully they can rebound and get back near the million number.

it doesn't matter if the World Series was on, NBA opening week, Women's water polo, or a table tennis tournament ... at some point the excuses gotta stop. they have lost nearly half their viewership in a less than a month. they gotta do some serious creative writing this week and get something going.

They've been in the top 10 every week and top 5 most of them. The numbers may not be what they want but they're still among the highest rated programs of the night. If anything it only shows there is no war and they aren't equipped to compete with RAW which they aren't doing anyway.

white people.

a lot of the same white people that watch wrestling.

Pandering to who? Casual fans or hardcores?

The way I see it is there’s a good balance that can be achieved. There’s a good and bad way to do things, TNA went and got so many ex WWE stars to the point it was excessive and a lot of them didn’t have that much value but were still on the payroll. You can still do things to bring casuals in though, look at when Mike Tyson came in WWE, it was done well and had a lot of publicity. If didn’t hurt the product it just shined more light on their story, it only ended up making Austin a bigger star in the end.

AEW is doing well but I think should always be trying to improve and grow. Complacency is a killer too, WCW saw that during the Bischoff era.

Needs to do things to grow, a big way they can do that and the fundamental way is getting their charecters and storylines hot. They aren’t where they want to be yet, it’s still very early and if and when they are should look to maintain and grow, but they are a long way from where they want to be, a huge way. They should be doing all they can to grow their audience. Too early to judge them yet but in a year to a year a 6 month would like to see a lot of progress.

most of those "ex-WWE stars" were really moreso WCW & ECW guys. the whole WWE-stars thing is always overblown. only true WWE stars that they put a heavy spotlight on back then were kurt angle, the hardyz & Christian. the latter is arguably more of a TNA guy at this point.

so the ex-WWE star thing isn't a problem. the problem is when Hogan/bischoff came thru and turned TNA into WWE-lite and blatantly chased away the core audience to pander to people who really didn't want TNA to succeed.

AEW has only been on TV for a month. theyre doing great. they just need to stick to what theyre doing. the best way to crossover is to let the crossover come to you. not the other way around.
