There is no reason to get hype over this war anymore with them both dipping to 700k. It's like competing to see who got the higher C.

In his defense he said “closest to challenging,” which is somewhat true. TNA was close to challenging the E. :manny:

I mean I guess. Ain't been any wrestling close to challenging the WWE in any way other than existing since 2001 & even then really 97 or 98 to be real.

TNA was never close to challenging WWE in any way, their biggest thing they had going for them against WWE was being able to get a million people to also watch them every week. They barely toured at all since they couldn't sell tickets & AEW already blew their best PPV buyrate out of the water. But they were the #2 by default because nobody else was in the game like that.

AEW is #2 by default because ROH has been shooting themselves in the foot long before AEW was a thought & then all the top ROH guys left to form AEW. Impact has been through so much shyt over the years that nobody pays attention anymore. NWA is a youtube show. MLW isn't even trying to grow like that so much as just not getting soaked up.

But they are an alternative tho dummy. :gucci:

Alternative doesn't mean they're gonna put WWE out of business in a year, but they've quickly become the #2 wrestling company in the country when they didn't even exist a year ago. You stooges just love shytting on the #2 wrestling company because they're the closest to challenging your beloved massa Vince. :russ:

TNA had the 'E stooges heated in the early 2010's and ROH/NJPW was also making em mad when they sold out the garden.

THIS

ive been saying for YEARS how people give forced/fake love to ECW and most of the ROH years.

I guess I was before my time, cuz nobody was tryna hear it back then.

people talking about TNA's ratings being better. the difference is that TNA never had to split their demographic. its not like they had to contend with a nationally televised ROH show on the next channel at the same time.

and no, going up against Raw wasnt splitting their demographic, at least not at first. before Hogan turned TNA into WWE-lite, it was a completely different type of promotion. as opposed to NXT/AEW, which are aimed directly at the exact same type of wrestling viewer.

put AEW against raw or smackdown, and they would easily do over a million viewers every week. maybe more. NXT's numbers would go up all crazy as well.

the WWF wasn't even on top in 97-98.

Didnt NXT get put over Raw & Smackdown just a month ago. How are they still being considered developmental? Because they still run Full Sail in front of 400 fans?

The majority of the main roster are made up of former NXT guys and the current NXT roster is made up of former highly sought indy guys. AEW is going at them (on USA no less) with a crew of largely little to no name indy guys against a show featuring Matt Riddle, Adam Cole and Finn Balor who was wrestling Brock fukking Lesnar competitively in January.

Can we stop with the spin about NXT. Its not exactly a scrub league.

look at NXT’s average rating

look at AEW’s average rating

Look at smackdowns average rating

Look at RAW’s average rating

Now answer your own question. It’s levels.. their flagship programming does over 2 million a week, while NXT does what, 6-8 thousand? They’re clearly the little nikkas.. I get that speaking highly of them will make AEW competing with them seem like bigger accomplishment, but we can’t kid ourselves my guy.

Its all branding. Raw has been around for 25 years. Smackdown for 20. Its staples for the older people watching them that are stuck in their ways. You could completely change the rosters outside of a few people and it wouldnt even make a difference. But lets not act like NXT has a bunch of greenhorn wrestlers from the performance center there. Theres only a couple at this point and the rest are well known indy talent that fans that also watch AEW are familiar with and have been for YEARS. AEW needs a LOT of work but Vince is shook and has already pushed multiole panic buttons already and Cody and them havent even hit their stride yet. This aint even an anti WWE thing this is simply looking at the facts

I’m not even speaking on the levels of the performers there

NXT is third tier programming in the WWE hierarchy. That’s just what it is.

Roman Reigns can show up tomorrow and that still won’t change that fact. Until recently, it was literally costing WWE money to keep that brand existing.

Whether the guys on that roster are 50 year vets or 2 month in rookies, that doesn’t change the fact that NXT is third tier in WWE’s hierarchy..

competing with them for AEW, a start up promotion, is cool. Maybe one day down the line AEW will have the viewership to compete with flagships. That would be ill, and if they keep building it’s not that far fetched.. but at the end of the day it just is what it is.

It's interesting to note that WWE edited out the mention of Dean Ambrose's name from The Shield's Survivor Series 2012 debut. As The Shield hit ringside to triple powerbomb Ryback through an announce table, Michael Cole called them by their names - Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns, adding that they were "all from WWE NXT."

In the WWE Top 10 video above, WWE did condense Cole's play-by-play but they also edited out the part where he said Ambrose's name. The mention is still included in the Survivor Series 2012 replay on the WWE Network.

Moxley is now Benoit status to Vince
