And? Why bring up Raw? That show couldn't be more irrelevant.

Wrestling fukkery these days is tame compared to the real life fukkery going on right now.

Because you're pretending that DVR/torrents/streaming etc. isn't a reason why all television shows have taken a hit with viewers.

These shows actually have more viewers than many NBA games. Does anyone say nobody is watching the NBA?

These numbers are great for 2020, that's a fact. This isn't 2005 where people only have cable.

Wrestling used to outdraw sports and was highly rated in all aspects.

I don't see how 2 shows struggling to get a million views each is great

The Sting clip of his AEW debut has over a million youtube views. Stay out of the 2000s.

:picard:What a gap

Nothing gets advertised for nxt till like an hour or 2 before the show.

No one is watching nxt over a show that was hyped to the levels of a PPV:yeshrug:

I don't think wwe even care. They aren't focused on nxt vs aew. They're a development show. Aew could advertise moxley vs Jericho while hhh would book something like Damian priest vs Johnny gargano:russ:

I stopped caring to even troll in this thread at this point because of how irrelevant the ratings are.

They take chunks out for sure, but watching live isn't this dead medium... yet.

Nostalgia is undefeated. It's the way of wrestling fans. Legends typically spike their segments upwards. WWE over relies on them for this very reason.

They did some buzzworthy things. The key is building off of them.

NXT wouldn’t be on Wednesdays if they didn’t deeply care about what AEW does. They literally sacrifices higher ratings on a different night to try to hold down AEW’s viewership. Their issue Wednesday was that they COULDNT put on a show to combat because they have a PPV Sunday with zero interest. I never thought WWE could produce two war games matches with such little stakes and build but here we are

The replies to the two shows on here are 1,070-80 currently, with NXT having war games on Sunday. That’s embarrassing and speaking volumes to how bad NXT is even more than AEW serving the core audience. NXT needs to transition to its next ‘era’ and NOW. I’d take Leon Ruff and make him the catalyst.

They were always on Wednesdays though. Moving days after they were on the same slot first is a shot to their pride.

AEW smartly uses the "WWE is trying to hold us down" narrative (true or not) as a way to market themselves as a rebel alternative.

NXT is more devastated by Covid. Every venue they perform at is a Covid hotspot. I'm guessing that a lot of people in NXT are covid deniers.

WWE had a ready made Tuesday night wrestling audience because of Smackdown Live on USA from 2016-19. It made no sense at all to have NXT on Wednesday. AEW would be on Tuesday if it weren’t for Tuesday night basketball on TNT, shown by the ‘Tuesday Night Dynamite’ trademark that was filed when AEW started. NXT has too many white guys in their 30s and it’s running off the audience, and Cole, Gargano, Ciampa needed to all come to the main roster after Mania 2019 at the latest. They have a nice big diverse roster, it’s time to use that. I never thought I’d see War Games where no one at all cares but here we are

The Smackdown brand is more marketable and more recognizable to the masses than NXT. People know the name because of The Rock. There's no guarantee that NXT would have got even half that if they were on Tuesdays.

I remember WWE ratings and attendence suffering because of having 4-5 days in a row of wrestling. That's part of the reason why Smackdown went to Friday.

Tuesday and Thursday were out for AEW because of Sports. Putting the show on Monday or Friday wouldn't have been good for them.

USA had nothing really on Wednesday so they put NXT there. WWE would still need USA's approval to get on the station.

NXT's current problem is too many guys who feel the same.

Another problem is the de-emphasis on characters and stories for in-ring. Io Shirai is a glaring example of this. She has what you need, but they aren't building personal feuds/stories for her to elevate her reign.

In the Dusty Era, they had more of a variety of characters and wrestlers. NXT in general works better as a developmental/feeder system for the main roster. I can name at least 6 guys who are overdue to be called up.

They have lost their identity by trying to be a super indy with a mainstream budget.

They could've been on Tuesdays and uploaded the episode on WWE Network on Wednesday's at the same time as Dynamite. Best of both worlds.
