He had a chance to use it in NXT, they teased it and then he never showed up.That was during a time they were really trying to elevate the US title, they had video packages about how prestigious the belt was and all.
They actually had the US title seeming like a big deal during that time Lashley Seth and Theory was featuring over it
The part that got me was when they had Theory explain his reasoning for cashing in on the US title and he said it was because he thought the odds was too stacked against him going after Rome. As opposed to having him say something along the lines of the US title being just as prestigious as the world titles. He basically said he can’t get the main title so he settled for the US title which defeated the whole purpose of elevating it
