if you have 5 or 6 group releases, and you have to resort to counting solo albums in order to defeat a group with 2 albums & 1 EP......................

...................then your group really aint ALL THAT.

wu fans still moving the goal-posts.

I'm late in the game breh and missed the thread although I'm glad to see the good guys won :smugbond:

but all joking aside, if we are talking about group albums, then it's Wu. NWA needed Cube and without him it wasn't the same group and their 2nd album you can tell he was sorely missing. So if we are talking albums then it goes to Wu and if we are talking level of rappers it goes to Wu. Cube is the nicest one in NWA from a legacy standpoint and he's a certified legend so he would be the only one I can see being able to be compared rhyme for rhyme, line for line, with anyone from Wu, especially since he was writing for Eazy and Dre with DOC also handling the pen game. Just going from a pure MC standpoint, I don't see how NWA takes this one and as a group, Wu just put out more music so there's a bigger pool to pick from. 5 group albums compared to 2, with each group having a classic LP in the mix.

im moreso referring to dudes cheating & resorting to solo albums when wutang already has twice as much group material.:smh: now if you vote wu just based off the group stuff, then thats wassup.

as for the other stuff, mc ren had better bars than ice cube. so i dont see how cube is the only one that 'can hang' with wutang.

lets not focus on nwa's mis-steps, and act as if wutang didnt have a steeper fall after their debut.

@bigrodthe1 is the homie but NWA was never going to win this. Wu's "run" at the height of their popularity is the debut through "Forever". Including the solos. I've never heard of their run excluding the solos until this thread.

If you like both groups equally you're gonna vote Wu just based off the sheer amount of material from their peak.

Hell, Quik vs Wu would've been better. His quality didn't drop off a cliff after 1 album. Let's not sit here and act like "efil4zaggiN" was anywhere near "Straight Outta Compton". To suggest that is to say Cube's involvement in the group was inconsequential, which is :heh:

Speaking of Cube, IMO "DC" murks Wu's entire discography. But again, that ain't an NWA album.

Fred.
I feel you Fred...I called the other fool out cause of how he worded NWA's influence and catalog which was all erroneous bullshyt. But I got to agree with Wacky when he says that the Wu supporters are moving the goal posts. They are saying that the first run of Solo's are included in their catalog but trying to distance themselves from the rest of the releases when the majority of them STILL followed the original format other than being EXCLUSIVELY produced by RZA when EVERYTHING from Wu-Tang Forever on had different producers and I personally felt NFL is a better album than WF :yeshrug:
and there is no way that the Influence on hip hop is even comparable...there really isn't a WTC without NWA and I'm sure they would even say that.

Oh I disagree on Ren having better bars than Cube but that's probably because I'm such a Cube fan. Wu's definitely had some missteps too but I feel like if we are comparing albums and rhymes and just MCing..nothing else, line for line, bar for bar, Wu gets this

I was trying to keep it fair though. Both groups at their peak. The problem with including anything post '97 is :ld: material as a group > the group breaking up. Because even the weak Wu albums still had a few good songs. NWA ceased to exist in 1991....in 2000 "Supreme Clientele" inspired Jay-Z's "The Blueprint". So to be fair I wasn't gonna count anything post '97, because again it's 2 albums and an EP vs a fukk ton of albums.

Even playing the devil's advocate, let's say Wu fell off after "Forever".

Their initial run is more than enough for most people to beat 2 albums and an EP. You get what I'm saying? It's basically 2 groups at their peak, and one produced more material. I don't get why people (not you) are seriously upset that Wu is winning though. It's two #1 tier groups....people are acting like it's DAS EFX or some shyt.

Fred.

100 miles & runnin >>> the w
nwa disbanding >>> those other wu albums

lets not even include all the other intangibles. wu gets the edge on singles & lyrics. but everything else is nwa all the way.

Wu was far more influenced by Cold Crush and Force MDs than NWA. Rza specifically said many times how he disliked the funk influence on hip-hop. Wu was NY to the fullest extent and would definitely still exist without NWA.
