If the Raps go back to a lottery pick team, you're not going to see this type of support. Leaf could be at the bottom of the league, they'd still maintain popularity.

Raptors are just the winning team right now. Many bangwagoners posing as Core fans. Don't be fooled. Just look at the Jays.
Bad comparison. Raps never had attendance problems, even in the very average Bosh Years, or the rock bottom Mike James Years. Nobody plays baseball. Meanwhile Canada now has most NBA players out of any non American country (and will keep growing)

The article I linked above where Leiwenke was musing about the Raps overtaking the Leafs in a decade was from 2014, before this team became a major winner.

Uncle Dennis has spoken brehs :whew:

Kawhi's uncle: Leonard has spoken highly of Toronto, focused on Warriors
Kawhi's uncle: Leonard has spoken highly of Toronto, focused on Warriors

Shortly after the blockbuster trade that sent Kawhi Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs to the Toronto Raptors last June, reports quickly circulated that the superstar wing was disinterested in competing north of the border.

His uncle, Dennis Robertson, recently told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes that Leonard's mindset at the time had little to do with him not wanting to play for Toronto - a city he's seemingly grown fond of.

"When you are initially traded somewhere you didn’t asked to be, you don’t want to accept it,” Robertson said. "But once you get through that period, the focus then turns to giving your all and performing at a high level.

"It never had anything to do with the city of Toronto. It wasn’t. Toronto is a beautiful city. Kawhi has often spoke highly of Toronto. It’s a beautiful place. That was just an initial reaction, which is normal. But we’re enjoying this run and looking forward to the Finals."

The 27-year-old forward will be one of the Association's most sought-after free agents this summer following what's already been an historic playoff run. With the Raptors set for their first-ever Finals appearance after defeating the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 6 on Saturday, Robertson says Leonard's attention is squarely on the Golden State Warriors and not his long-term future.

"I can’t get into other free agents and other teams, but for Kawhi, he’s going to take it one day and one game at a time," he said. "We have a championship opportunity in front of us. We’re not thinking about free agency; it’s the Warriors (right now). Once we get through the season, we’ll turn our attention to free agency. But we’re just having fun right now. This has been a great year."

Leonard is averaging a staggering 31.2 points on 50.7 percent shooting in 18 appearances this postseason, along with 8.8 boards, 3.8 assists, and 1.6 steals. He was recently named a member of the All-NBA second team and All-NBA defensive second team.

The Raptors will have a leg up on the competition in free agency by being able to offer Leonard approximately $190 million over five years while other suitors can only reach approximately $140 million over four.

I hate this promo, there’s no need to shyt on the past like that. Bandwagoners will come, they don’t need to be catered to so blatantly.

95% of new fans are bandwagoners, I know people personally who used to have a :mjpls: vibe to basketball, just a dumb sport where you can just watch the final ten seconds they would say and are now screaming and yelling .

Hell friggin tsn and sportsnet that treated basketball and the raptors like second class citizens all these years, won't even develop a basketball show but have thats hockey 1 and 2, have hockey central gobbling up hours on every channel showing raps games on tsn 5, sportsnet one to show friggin curling or some iihf game in copenhagen or some third rate erie otters v kamloops blazers are now calling themselves the raptors network.

In the earlier days I remember the only nba shows were nba dunk street on YTV, then tsn had one with brian heaney and james duthie then tossed it in the bushes. Then sportsnet had nba xl with nam and then added mark strizzy and tossed it in the bushes s well

Attendance has nothing to do with this.

Raps are the hottest thing in the city. When they are no longer winning or have a superstar or have 6ix Groupie, you will see them take the back seat to the Leafs and these so called fans will go back to stanning Drake. It happens.

Attendance was never an issue it was always viewership

Raps were drawing 15,000 viewers on the new vr back in the day and even a few years ago were drawing 100k

Checking out the pre-sale right now.

$796 for 300 level, some up to $1,000.00

Lowerball $1,579.50. Barely anything left at that.

These are the face prices, not the re-seller ones.

Bet they'll all show up later at double/triple the price

When the Leafs were bad and missed the playoffs, there were empty seats at the ACC and no buzz around them too...
