I have law school credits and know fucc all about the law. I'm not here talking foolishness about what someone can do legally or be charged with because the law is "Grey". If nikkahs actually knew what they were talking about they would know that the law even when things are clearly written is always 1 big maybe.

That is the reason we have a federal Supreme Court in America. The "maybes" are the reason why every State has its own Supreme Court. Courts use common law statues for many things but States are not bound by common law statues and each state has freedom for their own legal interpretations.

Most states don't even get their laws from statues, real law comes from lower court rulings, and appellate courts that decide what the lower courts rule on appeal. There is no such thing as straight forward in the law.

Americas legal system is a living, changing organism. Things get overturned and law that used to be the standard becomes obsolete when new precedent happens or a higher court overturns the ruling.
