The Feds are so smart yet they hired a guy who didn't graduate high school to manage their networks. Not everybody who works for the NSA is a mathematican. I worked for the Feds as a contractor and when it comes to Federal IT workers they were terrible. They had to hire us contractors just to get any work done.

What is your argument here? Are you discussing his non-traditional background or his aptitude? One has little to do with the other.

the résumé suggests that he had transformed himself into the kind of cybersecurity expert the N.S.A. is desperate to recruit
Snowden, a guy who didn't graduate high school, used his skills to hit exotic locations around the globe and make legitimate money while doing so. Not dealing with a dummy here.

I'm guessing in your capacity as a "Federal IT Contractor" you performed ancillary functions for one of the military branches?

Who said Snowden wasn't smart with IT stuff? He was also a contractor btw.
You're just contradicting yourself here. They rely on contractors because smart people are hard to come by. Plus, they can only take US citizens for most positions. That shrinks the pool of available candidates considerably.

Not sure that is the case. There is a constant back-and-forth between increasing the Civilian workforce and increasing the number of Contractors. Most of it has to do with budgeting concerns though.

Not sure you guys are aware of how the United States Government operates. If he needs catching, he will be caught. The rest is just theatrics.

:beli:@ the Obama admin pulling this plane hijacking stunt right after Obama dismissed Snowden as "just a 29 year old hacker" and said that they didn't need to use anything but basic legal channels to get him.

The only reason the administration is pulling out all the stops to catch Snowden is because he alerted the general public. When I worked for the Feds you had tons of people selling secrets to foreign governments and nobody seemed to give a fukk. We got briefings almost weekly of some dumbass getting caught selling secrets so I can just imagine how many they didn't catch.

And for the NSA to not use any real IT security controls to stop someone from copying all that information on a thumbdrive is beyond stupid. But that's the level of incompetence you get once government becomes this bloated and out of control.

Breh, when I was out there they had white house interns using internal computers that the Bush administration had never upgraded from Windows 2000 :smh:

With all that said (if you all want to know who is appointing the NSA judges):

Did you know John Roberts is also chief justice of the NSA’s surveillance state?

Take that how you want.
