:heh:

what???

defeated mentality I see...

calm it man.. i am just observing.. I dont think i am championing anything.

i just noticed the NRA went mute.

The reason why is obvious. Its not to their advantage to speak on this. If anything it will just get people riled up. This isnt the time to politicize their views. Especially with dead 5 year olds.

If they were smart they'd jump on it and express sympathy for the victims etc etc and talk about gun safety and so on

if you were a pro exotic car organization and an exotic car driver hit people you wouldn't go quiet... you'd have a point of view and say our heart goes out to the victims, senseless tragedy, here's the voluntary code of conduct we follow to ensure all cars are maintained and all drivers are prepared

the problem is that fast cars are just designed to go fast, assault weapons are designed to kill large numbers of people. how do you effectively advocate such a product after an event like this? mowgli is basically right, stay quiet for now.

:ehh: you're right, while typing it out I realized it's a bit of an odd case with the NRA vs other lobbies.. it's awkward for a gun lobby to express sympathy for gun victims

I disagree and it shows how much bullshyt the NRA is. I'd rather fukking die than ever join the NRA. I don't believe one second they actually care about any of these laws. They seem to be a front for white, conservative males.

If any of you actually want to see the NRA advocate gun control and gun bans, all you have to do is encourage African-Americans and Latinos to become legal gun owners en masse.

Implying African Americans and latinos don't legally own guns.

You're a real class act.

What do they have to get inovlved for. They could blame the parents for not properly securing their weapons from a son they were afraid of or they could point out how the lack of secure weapons lead to the boy taking them to commit a crime or they could just be quiet and let people go through their emotions before realizing Americans wont be parting with heat.

this is probably too blunt for most people to hear, but pretty much this.

Lets be real hear. If some black/mexicans kill a bunch of white folks in a state that lacks heat, how quickly are they going to backpedal on not needing guns cuz u know government is gonna let the states handle it while the people bytch about the government not stepping in to save them from a few isolated incidents. This brings them back to needing them guns. Mine as well keep them. These emotional outbursts make people think a lot of things that really dont make sense in the long run. Damn near on the verge of a possible ww3 and fakkits talkin about confiscating guns cuz some nerd shot up a school. :skip:

the black panthers actually caused signficant ruckus on this front and the gun laws did get tightened

if i remember correctly they carried loaded guns into the CA state house or something like that

I'm with you. I'm not really a fan of guns, but I'm a realist. Guns are here to stay and its a losing issue for Democrats. I don't know how much race factors into it, I mean look how much outrage there is over a white kid shooting white kids.

I think when other races kill whites they want more guns because the government will not step in and squash them like the 1800's. When white folks kill each other they look at the issue in a broader perspective like reversing amendments, and creating strict policies. Still i think its all emotional and eventually they are able to bring things back into perspective. Unfortunately the catalyst usually revolves around race.

For example we have tons of illegal immigrants here but once mexicans got their numbers up, they wanted immigration reform not realizing how many other people are bout to get bounced up outta here.
