I’ve been there as well and that’s not a humble brag but there WAS something awe-inspiring about just the scope and beauty of the building itself, especially considering how old it was. Even a rebuilt replica wouldn’t be the same because as that tweet said, the techniques used have been lost to time. It’s like if the Louvre burned down I know most of the shyt in there is stolen but a part of me would still feel sad about it.
But I also felt sad when they demolished the old Yankee stadium
