He gave Cole immediate help by publicly endorsing him and then bringing him on tour, cause he saw potential

If Cole starts getting traction, then Jay will jump in and 1) help a rising brand/investment 2) increase his own brand and relevancy at the same time

If it works, its a notch on Jay's belt. If it fails, it wasnt Jay's problem and he was being "generous". Its a dirty biz, but you can see how one hand washes the other...Jay keeps a safe but convenient distance from the Coles, Drakes, Meeks, Big Seans etc

Didn't he do the same thing with Kanye West? I think J.Cole is sub par, but he has a safe image that will keep him around for awhile. Plus that 360 deal, means he needs to make an album so he can tour. Seems like a win-win.
