Norwegians or the swiss i believe also had a program where they housed drug addicts in facilities and let them safely get raised out of their mind. I believe it was for heroin. The logic is that it would take away the desire to do it from the public by making it accessible and give the people somewhere to do their filth without harming friends, or themselves.

There are similar programs in the US. There are places that actually hand out clean needles to heroin addicts, so at least they won't get HIV or other diseases by using dirty needles, and some other similar initiatives.

The logic behind this practice is that when you don't separate men and women and have them living together, they form stronger social bonds- through friendship, sex, or what have you, and so are less likely to antagonize each other, and more likely to work better together. People become humanized when they start spending time around each other. That's part of what was important about ending racial segregation.

I don't think this would work here. Honestly, a lot of progressive things that are done in Scandinavia just can't be done here in America.

We still have a lot of hang ups on a variety of issues here that's so ingrained into our fabric that it's gonna have to take a whole new fabric to make any worthwhile change happen.

This to me makes more sense. Also wouldn't it be easier for the males to intimidate the female soldiers if they are living in the same place and in the same group.
