The results were NK making themselves look stupid and usually backing down from craziness they were spouting off that day. The President should be above petty insults and threats.
Also, you avoid placing SK and Japan in a compromised situation and help the diplomats to do their job instead of making it twice as difficult.
The words weren't a solution to NK's nuclear program, the main issue is to diffuse the current threat. Trump wasn't diffusing, he was instigating.
