the right thing to do here is work towards lifting sanctions in good faith, get a treaty signed ending the Korean War, and allow the peninsula to work towards reunification (which should've been done in the aftermath of WWII but the U.S. didn't want the Communist Party to win the election)
but since Un is a despot, China wants a buffer, and the U.S. and its South Korea client state want to make NK pliant and install their brand of capitalism there... its a shytshow
We just don't want to cede territory to China in the Pacific theater which is valid. But...its time to compromise.
Military action will only lead to a war we aren't prepared for.
