I'm no way a war monger but the idea of South Korea reunification with the north is a nice one. Would be interesting to see how South Korea would intergrate the North Koreans into their society and having a nutty cult government go away would be a positive.

Beyond that thought though this isn't something the US should be involved in imo and this is ignoring actions by china.
:mjlol: If you think China would ever let the north unite with the US-backed South. The moment the north "collapses" it becomes a chinese province.

Mike Pence is in South Korea right now

The ball is in North Korea's hands...

I don't know if that is exactly the case :patrice::huhldup:

South Korea Must Sign Off
"Implementation of the preemptive U.S. plans, according to multiple U.S. officials, depends centrally on consent of the South Korean government. The sources stress that Seoul has got to be persuaded that action is worth the risk, as there is universal concern that any military move might provoke a North Korean attack, even a conventional attack across the DMZ."

U.S. may launch strike if North Korea reaches for nuclear trigger

Yeah I was talking to my GF about this and was saying that the US may be invested enough to remove NK leadership but may not be invested enough to care if NK becomes a chinese province essentially. Of course SK probably would want unification, but this administration has shown that it doesn't put much stock in alliances and probably would not put too much energy into pushing SK's interests and what I would imagine is Japan's interest too in minimizing the expansion of China into NK.

US won't risk a greater confrontation with China by trying to take control of the north. We'll save that confrontation for the South China Sea.

China will retain influence but it will slowly become a hybrid relationship with SK co-managing. US influence will be there on the SK side but SK will have to distance itself a bit from us and cooperate more with China to accomplish a "new" NK.

That doesn't make sense in regard to NK. Their nuclear program is underground in bunkers so the MOAB would be the perfect weapon to bust that bunker.

From what I read yesterday the sister bomb (M.O.P.) would be the one that would be used in an effort like that.

Less explosives but heavier shell, better for fortified walls.

North Korea threatens pre-emptive nuclear attack

Selective quotes from article:

In an interview with CBS News’ Ben Tracy, one of the nation’s senior officials has accused the Trump administration of wanting to “annihilate” his country and blamed the escalating tension on the Korean Peninsula squarely on the U.S. and South Korea.

---

With that backdrop, North Korea’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Han Song Ryol sat down with Tracy in Pyongyang for a 40 minute interview, and he didn’t mince any words.

Han said the situation between the U.S. and North Korea is the worst it has ever been, and if provoked, his country is ready and willing to fight a war. He said North Korea’s nuclear program is non-negotiable.

“In one word, Trump is openly pursuing a policy to annihilate North Korea by force of arms,” alleged Han.

----

“If the U.S. comes up with a dangerous military option, then the first card is in our hands. We’ll deal with it with our pre-emptive strike. This means war,” Han said.

Tracy sought to clarify Han’s remark; “So you are saying if you feel North Korea is going to be attacked, you will use nuclear weapons?”

“Of course,” Han replied.

are we still pretending that North Korea is not a Chinese vassal state?
Nobody's bombing N Korea, they'll build that ballistic missile with the help of the Chinese and if America wants to stunt on our future overlords they can get that million man standing army even before they reach China's million man standing army
Trump granddaughter already speaking Chinese too :lolbron:

China has been distancing themselves from NK and have come out and said they don't really the kind of influence over this new regime like the rest of the world thinks.
