Story sounds like horrible luck and the father mentally snapping
Like others have said, they already were down bad running out of gas and walking at 630am, as a father you already gotta feel like a loser, then someone hits your child right in front of you
He already felt like his life was over by the time he pulled the trigger most likely

I do too…however I’m not walking down the highway at 6:30am. Irritated that I just ran out of gas, anxious to get to a gas station so I can get the hell out of there while trying to clock threats from everywhere. Looking for cars coming from both directions. Looking for wildlife. Your head would be on a swivel. So let’s say he did see him texting, that would mean the car was most likely heading toward him, right? If you can pick up someone texting at speed coming towards you, why couldn’t they get out of the way?I don't understand, I see people texting and driving all the time at all hours.

I Hit a drunk person that stumbled into the road before. stayed there until the police and ambulance came. They actually had to med evac him with a helicopter. Don't know if he lived or died because i never heard back about it. but the thought never occured to just leave him in the street and drive away like nothing happened.
