Yep a beat battle. Thanks for voting and commenting BB!This a beat battle? @NormanConnors killed it
Thanks for the comment Boss! It keeps the the battles in the face of the tunnel, so it's much appreciated. Yeah I tend not to tag, just to see how many eyes we can catch without the obsessive tagging, just constantly trying to stay updating the threads to keep them within earshot; but I'll definitely be tagging you in the upcoming matches. It definitely makes it easier. This is something to keep the tunnel busy year around without putting pressure on anyone or having to wait for the yearly tournament for those that one to continually compete and sharpen their skills next to a specific style or producer. If There is a limit to what can be upped, could you pottentially up this thread https://www.thecoli.com/threads/official-coli-battle-sign-up-thread.772627/Norman fukking killed that shyt got damn. Voted for him.
Supa beat was dope on some chill shyt, but Norman's beat was on some epic shyt and that melody was too catchy to ignore.
Ya'll nikkas gotta tag me so I can sticky this shyt.
Thanks for commenting DJ Mart-Kos!Both great beats!
Gave it to Norman but i really dig that idyllic style. Kinda reminded me of Pac - Do For Love.

Appreciate the comment Maharishi. This is fixing to be the highest voted on contest yet.Went with @NormanConnors but this was close. Norman made me want to rap. Those snares were snappy and crazy. @Supa reminded me of Q Tip/Pete Rock. I loved it. Both were dope as fukk
Despite the lopsidenes of the score, this is a great battle.
@NormanConnors - The track has great energy. this is definitely a track that can use an artist on it. I love the energy within the track as well. The mixing levels were hot in volume (loud) which force me to turn my system down 30%. Once I turned down the system everything hit. The track is very artist friendly, in the since that there aren't many changes to it. It's one of those those tracks where you don't even need a hook.
@Supa The track is dope. Those sleighbells had me thinking of that 90's Imature record Long live the 90's R&B haha
The mix was solid.
If I had to offer analysis as to why the voting is lopsided I would say its more so do to the energy of the tracks. Despite the mixing discrepancies in Normans track it has a certain energy that comes from the overall drive of the track. Where his track is more of Epic energy "ok lets fight" Supa's track is "Lets cruise on a summerday and head to the corner store or vibe out on the porch."
These are both songwriting tracks, of a different spectrum. Both are good in terms of execution. The separation of this match for me came down to the mix. I
My vote for this one is for @Supa The technicality was great.
To me it doesn't matter the style of track created it's more so the quality of it and Supa had both in spades.
Great Battle
Thanks man. That input is very helpful, I was playing around with some tools in the software as far as mix, got some good and bad things out of it. I can apply that critique to make some adjustments I now have a better idea on. I initially was going to go a smoother route but I was banking on/kept thinking @Supa was going to drop a rings of Saturn type beat. I was trying to jump the curve a bit. Supa's beat is dope, the non sample production (excellent baseline). Very nice work, drums and everything are 100 to me.
I was expecting you to go with a smooth beat that's why I wanted to battle you. You went with one of those epic sounding beats. As soon as I hit play I was like
I had a trap beat I could have used but the mix wasn't good enough because I'm not used to 808's. It actually would have been very similar to your beat and damn near a mirror match.
Besides a few minor flaws in the mix I loved what you did.
