Yeah someone was telling me that it doesnt work on WP8. That would be a huge no go for me, since I literally do all of my banking from that app. I mean i suppose one could use the mobile site but :manny:
Its more an issue with resolution, which is strange to me because thats the first app I have run across that requires a 480x800 resolution...works on nothing else.

I was actually surprised that the app doesnt work across all platforms tbh.

I know this is going to sound crazy to some, but apps focused on information and heavily use the web will become a thing of the past. I am actually surprised it has not happened already.

I can dive in deeper, but it might upset people who treasure those precious apps on their phones

That Verizon data plan/rates is hilarious.
yup, their lowest plan is...$80...with 300MB of data :laff:

I THOUGHT about it because of my company discount, but then I was like hold up...I'd STILL be paying more than T-Mobile/Simple Mobile

Responsive and open is the way to go. There is only one app that is really needed on a smartphone and that is the "HTML5 Browser" to open up all the possibilities.

The App stores will mostly be games, productivity, and word documents. All that other shyt like online banking, facebook/twitter/instagram, and other networks will just be thrown to the browser because it will make life for the developers easier. Not every team is going to have time developing and keeping apps up to date for:

Mac OS X and iOS
Windows (Desktop) and Windows Phone
Android and soon Chrome
Ubuntu
BlackBerry

What do all of them have in common? They all support HTML5, meaning the only thing developers have to worry about is their CSS, HTML, Java, and other open code that is open and will play nice on ANY phone without having to specifically write code to do so. I say in late 2014 the shift will start to change once HTML5 is finally set standard and the mass majority of phones have even better support for it.

Know why webOS failed? Its because it was way too ahead of the curve and really thought that the open standard was ready...it wasn't and still isn't fully baked yet. Give it time tho, hell Facebook already works damn near just as good as the "app versions" minus the notifications.

Its like "Ally Bank" I use that as a supplementary banking account and its web interface is good enough that I don't need to download the app to do all that I need...what is the point? I might as well fill up my screen with games and apps that I cannot get function from the browser as it is. I view those "apps" as shortcuts...and just another application open, when I could just easily open up another tab, use up less resources and keep it moving. The Best OS should win and I think that is still up for grabs with Android leading the way right now, Windows Phone in 2nd, iOS in 3rd and I hope to play with the Z10 or Q10 pretty soon to judge on that.

Want another example? Take a look at this forum...it uses Tapatalk right now because vBulletin5 is not fully baked yet. Once it is? I am sure bk and brooklynzson will update to ensure compatibility across ALL platforms and not needing an "app" to do it for them. Right now browsing the coli is a struggle on WP8

Interesting take breh :salute:

But how do you think that affects the common end user though? Most smartphone companies and regular consumer based companies build business around apps for common folks.

Again its the "web apps" that I am talking about for the most part. Even tho Chrome is starting to make a case that ALL apps could be forced and rendered through a browser...I think you can play Angry Birds through Chrome OS pretty smoothly these days. Plus think of it this way, they build their businesses around it...what makes more business sense than ensuring compatibility for ALL smartphones...I believe all smartphones these days support HTML5...even :flabbynsick: webOS

Angry Birds, MS Office, iPhoto, and all those hardware focused apps will still be fine for now. But like all those banking apps such as PNC, Ally, Chase, and other specific apps in which needs to constantly pull info from the web whenever you want to do something? They have to be built to be open, because trying to get a lock on all of that shyt is a mess across all the handsets out there.

Yup and MOST of the apps out there are like that. All scraping info from the internet.

Yeah, as soon as i use my bank app, it validates all my info through the website via the app

Not true. Tapatalk sucks on all phones when browsing the coli due to the lack of gifs and image embedding support. I actually prefer the browsing experience on Windows phone to android (but less than that on ios) due to its superior website rendering imho.

But browsing on Windows phone 8 is far from a struggle breh.
