As for the Orton burials, I think it was Orton's backstage attitude that hurt him.
Batista was known a guy who was easy for the men to get along with backstage and was generally regarded as a "nice, generous" guy by the boys according to a few shoots. Orton had the reputation for being a good guy, but somewhat high strung and a drug addict. The company covered for him a lot because of his father's friendship with Vince McMahon. The guy almost overdosed in 05 and admitted he was locker room fodder until Edge pitched Rated RKO in 06. He would've been a lot bigger if not for his personal demons.
I think the company intentionally dropped the ball on him at different points because of his personal problems and backstage behavior.

Blandy wasn't a drug addict. He got caught with roids in his sytem at least twice. His appearance was changing alot from 2004-2006. Dramatically almost. Batista was a "nice guy"? Nah..he was known for trying to backstage skeezers like Melina. What is funny about all of that is that for some reason, I don't ever remember someone interviewing Melina and just having the balls to bring it up the right way and not with that rumor slick talk..just str8 up ask her, "was you letting Dave Bautista dig your guts out?" A lost opportunity.

You can make the case all that is the reason why he essentially a upper midcard face in the doldrums since losing the title to Henry. WWE knows Orton isn't reliable enough to give a massive main event push anymore and Orton laissez-fare attitude towards his character/gimmick hasn't helped either.

Rock could have ethered cena at a level similar to this video if Vince&Stephanie didn't tell him to hold back. It's sad that he listened to them.
