They will and they have too. Syria will be the last country besides Iran that Russia has influence on in the Middle East and if they don't fight back they can kiss any war or resources/influence goodbye from now on. They are basically surrounded and U.S is enroaching towards China too which will be the next region under distress.

:dead:

yo you guys think russia is going to get involved should we attack syria??:hamster:

John McCain takes a break from his poker game to come out against the Senate's Syria Resolution

Sen. John McCain says he doesn't support the latest Senate resolution to authorize military force against Syria.

McCain is an outspoken advocate of intervention against Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime and wants more than cruise missile strikes and other limited action.

The Arizona Republican threatened earlier this week to vote against a White House draft resolution unless President Barack Obama promised greater support to Syria's rebels. McCain then expressed support after meeting Obama at the White House.

He now opposes a resolution crafted by Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey and Republican Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee. It puts a 90-day limit on action and says no American troops can be sent into Syria.

Asked if he supported it, McCain said, "In its current form, I do not."

This cranky old fukk wants the US to remove Assad.

Depends on what is meant by the question of whether Russia will get involved or not. Will they take any direct military action against the U.S.? No. Will they assist Assad? Well, they've already answered that in a sense, so, yes. But to the people worried about a big "dust-up" (or even WWIII) should we decide to intervene (which we will)... Calm down. Nothing truly major will come of this, at least not in the short-term. I think the worry here is future-oriented and focused more heavily on the perception of America and our credibility in international politics. To some, we would be - rightly or wrongly - reinforcing the perception of America as an imperialist nation; psychological adjustments in perception can, and likely will, result in damage further down the road, but not immediately.
