So we sign this dude instead of re-upping Bourn....:beli:

and its not like he's significantly younger either, he's 28.

ATL teams make it tough to root for them sometimes.

Atl teams are stuck on happy on being average.

These types of posts are just unnecessary. nikkas love to hate ATL for whatever reason...

nikka I live in and love Atlanta. You ever wonder why everyone outside of Atl don't give us no credit. The Falcons aren't even favored to win a playoff game. Stop being homer and be real, it'll help the city's sports teams.

It's not even that. Atlanta has had some bad luck recently that kept great runs from happening.

If Beachy/McCann doesn't get hurt and Uggla doesn't suck, big things happen this year for the Braves.

Falcons are a piece away but an upcoming surprise (Sidbury/Quizz/Antone Smith) may be enough. As constructed, Falcons COULD get to the SB. Have to play perfect ball.

And the Hawks... well we are rebuilding but are still 9-4 without JJ and no Marvin. Not contenders but doesn't mean the foundation ain't there.

I mean you right, folks look like ATL funny in a sports aspect. But hey, the Marlins and Heat win titles and Miami is a worse sports town than us. No reason that ATL can't.

If Atl teams would actually invest in super star players and not try to stay within budget maybe they could win a ship. I been here for a long long ass time and all I see is gm's tryna to do enough to not be bad and be average.

I'd choose Upton over Bourne. His ceiling is much higher (which means nothing unless he reaches it, I know), hits for power, has comparable d, and can still steal bases.

That contract is crazy, but Boras supposedly wants $100 mil for Bourn. :upsetfavre:

He is 28, at what point do we stop bringing up his ceiling and start discussing the fact he may never reach his ceiling ?

:whoa: Michael fukking Bourn asked for 100 million?

And the thing is he's probably gonna get it or close to it from somewhere :wow:

There is no way I would play any other sport but Baseball.

And as far as your ceiling comment, he's 28 and has been in the league since at least 2007. I think it's safe to say that he's as good as he's gonna get.

Hey, I didn't say what his ceiling was, just that it's higher than Bourn's lol. I probably should have said the upside is better with Upton.

Bourn's biggest threat is his speed. You think he'll still be this fast in 4 years?

The Braves have been trying, it just hasnt worked out. We brought in Sheffield and Texiera to try and make championship runs. Braves just have horrible luck.

how do u get 70 mil after u hit .240?

:manny:

1. He'll steal 30+ bases for you
2. Gives you 20+ homers along w/ .425+ SLG
3. Plays plus defense at a premium position
4. Not the best lead off guy, but will give you a so-so .320+ OBP
5. He'll be 29 come 2013 Opening Day, and you'll have him for 4 prime years(29 - 32) of a 5 year contract.
6. Melky got 8 mil, and BJ is a superior player

what have we learned after the past 2 offseasons?

we must teach our sons to play baseball

If your son is a lefty and can throw :ohlawd:
