It won't be an Ice Bowl but this NFC Wild Card features two franchises with a ton of history. Mike McCarthy faces the franchise he lead to a Lombardi for a second time after last season's matchup in Lambeau went from a Dallas blowout to a Green Bay overtime win.
Dallas has won 16 in a row at home and been mostly dominant. Green Bay hasn't lost at Dallas since the opening of JerryWorld, including Super Bowl 45 against the Steelers.
The Cowboys won the NFC East with the Eagles late season collapse. The expectations for this season are clearly getting to the NFC Championship and hopefully beyond as the #2 seed in the NFC. Although injuries in the secondary have hurt, the offense has been able to make play after play when needed especially at home.
The Packers are the youngest team to qualify for the NFL Playoffs in recent memory. The roster has 17 players born after the year 2000. Simply put, there were no expectations for this young team to be even have a chance at playing for something bigger in January. They had a record of 2-5, fans calling for a tank to draft another young QB, and move the rebuild in that direction. But Jordan Love and the youngest WR/TE group in the league turned fortunes around with a late season surge.
Green Bay's defense is led by the worst defensive coordinator in recent NFL history, Joe Barry. Look for the Cowboys to score at will in this matchup. It will be too much for young Jordan Love to overcome in his first postseason start.
This'll be the 3rd time in the last decade that Green Bay and Dallas have played each other in January. The last time was 7 seasons ago when Aaron Rodgers and Jared Cook made one of the most insane plays you'll see.
Green Bay would get demolished in the NFC Title game to Atlanta which had...Dan Quinn as HC and Matt LaFleur on staff back then.
Dallas hasn't advanced beyond the NFC Divisional Round since the 1995 postseason. All signs point to that occurring this month. A big win in this matchup looks likely.
