What is the whole barcode thing about?
so who produced it? KLC or C-Los and XL?
What is the whole barcode thing about?
Ppl always thought Fiend was dope and I could never see why...I can't stand that gruff type voice same with mystikal although he had a few songs I liked...and I pretty much own every release from 96 til late 99
Snoop & Master P and Silkk, huh? Yea, get all the way out of here. What is your reasoning?
Mac's next album Proverbs was supposed to come out in 2000/01Fiend is one of my fathers favorite rappers ever but I never could get into him. I think the best is Mac. I just think his two albums are excellent and him being on that label held him back.
What is the whole barcode thing about?
how p came up...he cut out middle men n he looked up2 some of the biggest ceos in the country n in the south...n he was best friends with james prince..
he learned how to hustle in the bay...and in texas..
p used alot of texas based companies be4 goin to priority ...southwest wholesale who had a deal with warehouse music n other accounts...n he had pen n pixel..who could do covers for cheap..
both are companies that helped cut cost n made labels like sick wid it..rap-a-lot and suavehouse
p was doin the bar code hustle that cats like lil flip, yungstar pokey, lil troy n others down here mastered..
which was take ya album...put the same upc on ya compilations mixtapes etc...n when mom n pops n major retailers scan em...ya mixtape would count as a album sale...
p did that with alot of shyt..thats how alot of texas rappers got deals...big pokey, yungstar, lil o, flip lil troy...esg and others
e-40 nem did it too..
flip took it further..his 1st 3 cds are all double disc..its a bunch of flip mixtapes with the leprechaun, underground legend and u gotta feel me barcodes..
texas rap game took a huge lose when warehouse music went bankrupt..n southwest soon followed..Slump stops the music at Southwest Wholesale 02/05/2003 | Archives | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle
alot of artist fell off the map same with labels it wasnt jus rap..alot of country artist lost revenue n other shyt when southwest n warehouse went under
the bullshyt spice sayin is far from the truth..
if u got all of no limit albums all u gotta do is look at the back of em...u see garbage nikkas like prime suspects, the ghetto commission skull dugrey kane n abel..all got the same upc's as some of the compilations...if them nikkas can go gold n platinum..why they cant do it now...n why gone off the face of the earth...
p was droppin shyt every 2 weeks..and all of it was goin gold or platinum...p wasnt that rich to drop half a mill every 2 weeks...he had even got that deal with priority yet..only reason p made the switch from southwest to priority because he got a tip they was goin bankrupt...
had he stayed he woulda fell off like wreckshop, shortstop, suavehouse dopehouse, straight profit kmj and selenas ol label...
if the shyt spice sayin is true..why did p fall off..n couldnt even sell 100,000
p knew the music game..thats why he owned what he owned industry wise...n the major got what they got...p raped the fukk out the majors...
that song with nasMac's next album Proverbs was supposed to come out in 2000/01he was locked up in 2000 just when his two biggest hits (Wobble Wobble, He Did That) were out. dude could have blown up bigtime, he was no biter like P, had his own lane/style, had lots of deep profound stuff next to the usual bragadoccio NL style, and all the tools to make it
Despite Master P appearing on the first issue of XXL, their relationship went sour around '99. XXL started throwing shots at No Limit and it reached it's peak when XXL reviewed an advanced copy of Master P's Ghetto Postage that only had 11 songs. If I'm not mistaken, they gave the album an "M" rating (might've been an "S", which was their lowest rating). They ended issuing a retraction and apologized for prematurely reviewing the album. They never reviewed the retail.
The No Limit camp was involved in an altercation after some guys tried to jump Snoop. This was confirmed by Mystikal, but he didn't give any specifics aside from they handled it.
Mia X didn't have a contract with No Limit. According to her, P treated her like he treated C and Silkk in terms of how he put her on.
Master P claimed he ghostwrote Mystikal's "Shake It Fast" and cited Mystikal's use of "boonapalist" (also the title of a song off Master P's Only God Can Judge Me) as proof.
Master P's Only God Can Judge was originally supposed to be a Greatest Hits compilation featuring 8 new songs.
Master P and Jermaine Dupri had begun calloborating in 1999. P was supposed to be on JD's 2001 album Instructions. Either the song was scrapped or never materialized after the rift between the two when Master P claimed Romeo and Bow Wow were best friends.
It was alleged that Pimp C dissed No Limit on UGK's "Let Me See It".
No idea what Gilly actually did, prolly security work
