I first heard it before checking out Unlady Like (became a NL fan in mid-98 as a lil jit). Some good cuts (the one with Snoop & Joe, Flip&Rip, the heartfelt songs, rowdy ass Don't Start No shyt), but pretty disappointing overall

Yeah, this was not as good as Unlady Like, but Mia said it was rushed and she wished she had more time to work on it. She wanted to put more of her poetry on the album ("Hoodlum Poetry" is still crazy from Unlady Like). She also wanted to work with more outside features. Songs I still like from Mama Drama:

Bring It On
Mama Drama
Flip & Rip
Fallen Angels

Yeah LOD (flawless) and WW3 (some of NL's greatest rap songs on there) are my personal faves. Tru 2 Da Game is up there too. Could listen to those 3 all day
C-Murder, Magic, Soulja Slim & Full Blooded would've been a cool group

Giving Am I My Brother's Keeper another spin, C-Los, O'Dell and KLC shined on this, @JustCKing you were right this album did have it's own sound. Deep and richer production that sounds like it could be on a movie, a lot of story telling tracks and a lot of piano.

This must have been when Soulja Slim first got out or he fukked with Kane & Abel heavy bc he was featured a lot on this

Agreed brah. Fiend, Slim, C, Bleed albums all had a distinctive style in the first half of 98, then it got too homogenous, basically every album sounded the same after Kane&Abel, Mac and Snoop dropped in July/August
