Ironic that P said you have to keep up with times to stay relevant when not being able to do that was his exact downfall. He became associated with corniness. So much that it has tainted many people's memories of how dominant they were in their run.

The last two episodes were cautionary tales on what not to do.

Sad part I think part of his problem was trying to keep up with current times too much. Whatever was hot he tried to bite which is what helped make him look so corny.

Exactly, and he did that biting and trend chasing for a long time. Glad this doc was done. It reminded people of how dope that time period was and what P brought to the game. Well done doc minus some fluff. Feel like this could’ve used another hour to expound those latter years.

I think his biggest mistake not believing in the people around him. Had he let the big artist like Mystikal, Mac and Soulja Slim work with outside production they would had been mainstream. The albums every week with no promotion only ran so long.

but that’s how he got hot. Master P was everything but original.

P problem is that No limit didn’t have a gradual falloff

P didn’t realize how much wave in music is dependent on how hot the main act remains. He had the talent but wasn’t invested in pushing them to new levels

True. I noticed they didn't mention when P went on that crusade for people to "clean up rap" and not curse back in 2007

NY Daily News - We are currently unavailable in your region

Master P has cleaned up his rap and now he wants the rest of the hip-hop world to do the same.

The reformed gangsta rapper who is pioneering clean lyrics will testify tomorrow at a congressional hearing on stereotypes and degradation in rap and hip hop.

"I used to be part of the problem, but I've matured," Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, told the Daily News during a recent trip to Harlem.

So far, Miller is the only rap artist who has agreed to testify at the hearing, "From Imus to Industry: The Business of Stereotypes and Degradation."

"I am not trying to take away anyone's freedom of speech," said Miller, 40. "I'm concerned about the constant use of profanity. And it's time to clean up hip hop in order to preserve it for the next generation."

He said he started singing a new song when he constantly had to turn down the radio to avoid raunchy lyrics when he and his wife, Sonya, were with their seven children.
He went on to create his own record label to promote performers with clean lyrics.
Miller and his actor-rapper son Lil' Romeo formed The Miller Boyz under the label and recently released the album "Hip-Hop History."
They've got an exclusive deal to sell the profanity-free CD in Wal-Mart.

The rapper insisted he's not trying to put down other rappers who use explicit lyrics. He blames music moguls who encourage hip-hop artists to push the envelope.

"We need to clean up our lyrics, but not turn our backs on the entire hip-hop community because they're not the problem," said Miller. "The artists are the puppets who are controlled by the puppeteers. It's time for accountability."

And in true P fashion, he only did that as a last ditch effort to ride the last bit Romeo's Nickelodeon run. He was right back to cussing a few years later when that PG money dried up:russ:.

They really dropped the ball with Mac. That dude was nice! Ain’t no telling where he could’ve gone if he worked with other producers.
