People are really not giving Rockhold his credit. Luke had him rocked in the 2nd round, beat the shyt out of him in the 3rd, and finished him in the 4th.
Agree. Some of it is just that the Aldo/McGregor fight was so huge and it was so fukking crazy. if Weidman/Rockhold had been the main event of another PPV it would be getting a lot of talk. It was a huge moment that got eclipsed by a larger moment. Gotta keep it 100. I've always known what was going on with Rckhold's results but I haven't gone out of my way to watch a lot of his fights, and didn't really pay attention to his UFC run until the the Machida fight and then I went back and watched his guillotine over Bisping and inverted triangle over Boetsch.

Rockhold is legit. I think any of the top 4 MW's can beat another on any given night.

Me too. Although I'm still not sold on Weidman being able to be beaten by many people outside of Rockhold. Maybe Jacare. I think he could beat Romero on cardio in a 5 round fight. I'm still in shick as to how much damage Weidman took. That was scary as fukk. I feel weird not knowing more about Rockhold. He really crept up on me from left field and I slept on the guy, I can't lie.

We all should understand the physics of the KO at this point, but there must have been a disconnect between Aldo's mind and body to allow such a brash, bold, and foolish attack when an opponent is clear and fresh.

On to the next one.

That reminds me, I forgot he beat Bisping's ass. I need to go watch that. Also, looks like Bis himself called that fight right.

Weidman's cardio isn't too great either. For all the talk Romero's cardio gets, that was the first time he's really looked completely exhausted late in a fight. The majority of his fights in the UFC have ended with him KO'ing his opponent in round 3.

I think there's maybe a few reasons why he would start the fight with such a reckless attack. Most likely imo that Conor's mind games got to him and he wanted to KO him right off the bat. He might have also been caught up in the moment of being in such a huge fight and was just anxious to get started.

I honestly think he wanted to make a statement and thought he could just blow dude out of the water. I've seen him make similar lunges in other fights, perhaps he thought coming out with this element of surprise would end the fight early.

But Conor's knuckle game is simply too good.

Better to have him in 2 so they can milk the title fight promotion cards in the event he loses the title in one divison.

This dude gonna get caught real soon fighting in 2 divisions.

The only way this situation makes sense for the UFC is if he fights 5-6 times a year. And we know that's almost impossible for a champion.

Injuries are common in MMA, even major ones are relatively common. More so than any other sport. A common/minor injury can sideline one of the belts for over a year. A major one like the one Conor suffered after the Holloway fight can have one of the belts sidelines for over a year and the other close to 2 years.
