Depp, Bale, Daniel Day-Lewis, DiCaprio and Damon all belong in the HOF. The strength is in the range, I might even through Smith in there considering a film like I AM LEGEND where he essentially is in the entire movie by himself. JGL is showing he has range, but i wanna see him in a straight dialogue driven drama, or perhaps a period piece.

Good acting is still around its just that most people don't go to see good movies. Hell you even got Viggo Mortensen in Eastern Promises that had a nikka not even remembering that was fukkin Aragorn. Or Javier Bardem in damn near everything he has done. :mindblown:

Lastly, you also have to remember that lots of great talent is going straight to premium cable TV, between HBO, AMC and Showtime you got PLENTY of great actors. I mean between Mad Men, Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad ALONE is like 20+ Emmys for acting.

I like Bale but his range is kind of limited. Before the fighter, dude was half way in the bushes.

I agree partly they dont necceraily have to be the creme de la creme. But to say ppl dont watch rom coms because of the acting is about of a goof.Cuz the acting will lend itself to important aspects such as comedic timing/chemistry e.t.c

.You cant possibly be serious this era basically has 0 movie "stars". And the A-listers we have now wouldnt be anything more than supporting acts in yester years..Ryan gosling is a dead eyed cold actor who has zero range. Channing tatum? the less said the better.Kirsten stewart? robert pattinson? all these noobs are lightweights..And you cant tell me bradley cooper is anything to write home about. If u think having a plethora of mediocrity with a hand full of actors with potential is a good indicator of the future of the industry :manny:

:whoa:

I love his aimless gaze :simp:

:ohhh:

did u see american psycho

Yep. Its a great flick and IMO, Bale's best performance. But I would hardly call it a comedy. Dark comedy, but nothing in the likes of "Crazy Stupid Love" or "Tropic Thunder."

well yea but his range is that movie is pretty evident

i don't see how not being able to do "ben stiller" type comedies equates to an actor not having range

Ryan Gosling and Joesph Gordan da Gawd holding shyt down breh. the fukk you been

:salute: im sayin...

those cats made their recent respective "chick flicks", "Crazy, Stupid, Love" & "500 Days Of Summer" worth watching...then they flipped it 180 and made dope movies for the guys with "Drive" and "Looper".

the haters can keep hating though cause they done already grinded and paid their dues and are rightfully getting recognition that they deserve now. long gone are the days of them singing covers of jodeci songs on the mickey mouse club or playing an alien on an NBC sitcom.

throw my nikka tom hardy in there and you got the triumvirate. :whew:

Then that means his range is limited.

Robert Downey Jr. is the prime of example of range. Same with Ryan Gosling. And Matt Damon.

Just because we've seen flashes of it in American Pycho doesn't mean his range is limitless. The actor has to be willing to do the parts full time in a flick like others. Bale has preferred to stick to his serious roles 95% of the time.

And he was very meh in "Public Enemies".

Hollywood film is basically life-support vegetable status at this point. The safest, most sure-fire profit vehicles are actually Rom-coms and Comic book reboots

The new actors are getting shyt scripts to work with, and are not given a chance to show their talents. The currently successful actors are also getting most of the good Indie scripts first. Its hard out there. Creativity and new ideas and new actors dont mix well with big budgets and established directors and stars. No ones willing to take that risk when the business is transforming like it is now
