Bought a Switch just for Cyberpunk. Asked for it at Best Buy and the guy laughed at me. So unprofessional.

Seeing how well the switch is doing really has me thinking about getting one especially since I havent gotten a PS5. Haven’t owned a Nintendo since SNES and I wouldn’t even know where to start. Sometimes I watch videos of gameplay and feel like I’ve aged out of the target audience but the convience of mobile game play almost feels too good to pass up.

Honestly before I got back into games recently it was mostly platformers, JRPGs and 2K lol. I’m pretty open to games at this point because it’s honestly something to just pass the time, but I want it to be “fun” first and foremost and not something that takes 10-12 hours to get good. Definitely interested in BOTW but outside off that I’m clueless.

BOTW just like you said. IMO it would be a perfect game for you. On one hand, it can allow you to 100% the game which can take 200 hrs. But at the same time whenever you feel like you wanna just beat the final boss and finish the game you always have that option after you are done with the short tutorial. It is literally playing at your own pace type of game.

Mario Odyssey. I consider this to be the most fun game on the Switch. Granted the game is on the easy side but I wouldn't consider it a burden. Plus the mechanics they added were super interesting. This and Celeste are probably the only platformers I would reccommend.

Bayo 2. Not sure if you played Bayo 1, but both Bayo games are obviously great. It is a hack & slash game, but it does it so well imo. Also, Bayo 3 is still in development.

Astral Chain. I'd consider it a mix of hack & slash and an action RPG. One of the more underrated games on the Switch.

Normally I don't like recommending games I haven't gotten to yet. But Hades is one to consider everyone on here has given super high praise to it. I definitely need to check it out for myself.

If you are interested in multiplayer games then both Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros are both great in a party.

Beyond that, you do have the list of JRPG's on the system. Which IMO is the selling point of the Switch. This is what makes recommending a Switch hard to recommend because if you are not looking for JRPG's then the catalog becomes a lot thinner. Still, all the games that I mentioned above are all amazing. Plus we do have games like Bayo 3, BOTW 2, Monster Hunter Rises, and Metroid Prime 4 all in development and the first 3 are likely to be released next year IMO.

It really comes down to whether those games are enough. You also have ports of older games, but that depends if you played them already.

But considering it is very likely by the end of 2022 we will be getting more power to the switch in some fashion. Therefore it wouldn't be illogical to be willing to wait.
