It's just an art style choice. It's made on UE4 with full voice acting and orchestrated soundtrack (not even DQ XI has that), it's not some budget title lolim on the fence about octopath
im NOT paying 60 for a spruced up 3ds game under any circumstance, but im considering playing it
Nintendo just doing what they always been doingyal realize there was more info about a technical monstrosity like God of War leading up to PS4's release than there is about a fukking pokemon game for Switch months later right? its different for Nintendo I swear
There's different versions of UE4. Its not a status symbol or price justification benchmark.D

I'm pretty sure this is the first UE4 exclusive for Switch

How? Did I miss something? It's just another 2d/3d hybrid anime styled rpg
there's really something in that package that couldn't run on a 3DS?

And I'm not seeing how sexy'd up high res xenogears esque backdrop really got people flabbergasted. voice acting and a good soundtrack are like.... the standard
I'm not talking about content - that's the xenogears shortcoming and its within itself. I never commented on OTs content at all (because no one is ) I'm just saying those backgrounds aren't some crazy style because it was all over early PS games. The character design is also a throwback to Ogre titles. The biggest, noticeable shift in all this is camera and resolution. That's not..... hard lol.Square had to turn disc 2 of xenogears into a visual novel because the game was costing too much too make
nikka that shyt ain’t cheap, making all those sprites and voicacting too. I’m no expert on game development or do I know the budget for octopath but I can see by the game play and the marketing that this isn’t just some low budget run of the mill jrpg.
eh, FF15 may not have hit the mark as a one time over experience like a traditional jprg - but they completely nailed the continuity market coming from a market where the only types of games who continued to rake in money like that are gacha and MMOs. you'd struggle to find a JRPG of that magnitude making as much money for itself through content streams and gameplay additions as far past launch as FF15Octopath Traveler will be a better JRPG than any recent Final Fantasy game.

Also, slightly triggered, those sprites are NOT the same sprite design that drives up the costs for fighting games either. When people reference cost and sprites/2d work, they're referring to this type of shyt
not this refurbished retro stuff on the bottom waaaaaaaaaaaaay towards the back of the list. we ain't counting those pixels
game might be good, even great - but i'm not seeing the hype on a technical side.... its just a art style, its not like its valkyria's canvas engine or something. hell a game like octopath is probably easier and cheaper to make now than its ever been before
there's no games out so all i can do is complainHmm I guess
But I still feel like the game is worth the 60$ price tag it seems like a quality project regardless if it has ps1 reminiscent backgrounds
Now if The World Ends With You enhanced port drops at 60 then that’s a true rip off to be outraged about.
