I loathe the gameplay style of Xenoblade. It's like FF13 and FF15. It's very MMO-ish and more WRPG-esque. But I'm kinda desperate for a JRPG so I might get it. I prefer my JRPGs to be linear and heavily story-focused (like back in the PS1 and PS2 days). I think @winb83 has a similar preference with mine so I wonder what he thinks.

Still haven't bought a Switch yet despite having the money for it. I was wondering does the Switch have a social network feature like the Miiverse where you could share screenshots and discuss the game with other people? That was a cool feature on the Wii U.
Xenoblade 1 and 2 are heavily story focused. The gameplay is very much like a single player MMO so I can see why that wouldn't appeal to a lot of people but the games certainly aren't light on story. If nothing else, know the soundtrack will be godlike with Yasunori Mitsuda at the helm

There will never be another Miiverse. It was a cool idea for the users but in terms of business it really made no sense to have a social network only for people who already own the system. Screenshots and vids can be posted directly to FB/Twitter now where they can be seen by far more people.

Xenoblade 2 is looking more and more like a day 1 to me. even tho my day 1s were set at

Mario Odyssey
Zelda
Splatoon 2

I just saw the official Xenoblade 2 commercial and it was very cool. Seeing Nintendo commercials on tv again is honestly just :banderas: saw one for Skyrim too.

Nope. You can't even send, receive or view messages from friends.

The fukk?

Xenoblade 1 and 2 are heavily story focused.

I've played Xenoblade 1 and I couldn't get into it. The game may have been story focused but the story wasn't appealing to me. It was nothing like Xenogears/Xenosaga/FF7 type shyt from the hours I've played (maybe it got better in the end)

The gameplay is very much like a single player MMO

I've been repeating the 'offline MMO' comparison on gamefaqs all the time and people get angry. That's exactly how it plays. Heck, I've enjoyed FF13 (another shytty game) more than Xenoblade 1.

If nothing else, know the soundtrack will be godlike with Yasunori Mitsuda at the helm

Unfortunately, I feel that Mitsuda has been under-utilized in both games. I think he only makes like 1 or 2 songs in the new game.

I haven't turned this thing on in months. I'm probably not gonna get back into this till Friday when Xenoblade releases. Maybe after I beat that I'll get into the Mario games. I ended up buying them but just never got around to playing them.

Mitsuda wasn't that involved in the first game but he was in charge of nearly everything this time

Xenoblade2 was a ton of work. In my role as a producer, I handled proofreading (checking all the scores), managing the budget, sound checks, and the sound program. It was an impossible amount of work for one person. The biggest challenge was that, since the other composers didn’t have much experience recording with orchestras, I was handling controls, identifying issues in the written music, and gently relaying the director’s requests to the team—all work that required a lot of attention. Of course, since I also had to write my own music, it was a pretty rough one and a half years.

I definitely want to offer the soundtrack for sale, but since the number of songs is what it is, I wonder how I’d go about doing that…

On Xenoblade2, I wrote the main theme, important event themes, and the vocal theme that plays in the end of the game. The soundtrack in total was a staggering 120 pieces, but that was divided among five people. As a result, I wrote a lot more music than the previous game’s soundtrack had. The portion I was responsible for has a lot of pieces that I think will really remind you of Xenogears. I tried not to break down the Xeno sound that I built up (like I mentioned earlier in this interview), so I hope you’ll enjoy it.

He also said he doesn't think he'll work on a bigger production in his life

Nier is like Bayo, right?

Bayo 2 was a fantastic game imo.

you in a tough spot, bruh. all depends on if you played similar games to both and which one you prefer more.

Have no opinion on Yakuza.

Astro Duel Deluxe is on sale for $5 and is actually pretty fun. I had to make myself stop playing to go back to ARMS.
