I blame America :manny:

.......................:dwillhuh:.....................I was thinking watching this that Africans (people all around the world of course too) get a lot of the cultural "cues" from the U.S....and although there is a great mixture of skin shades among African American celebrities/personalities...nonetheless....light is still given some preference...even if marginally.......(sometimes)......... so yeah I would agree.......that I'm sure many of the Nigerian/African celebrities also get their "cues" from African American celebrities/personalities too (sometimes) and so it all sorta falls into place.....

Disgusting...... 8 out of 10 Nigerian women..................................... :to::wow::stopitslime:

80% of nigerian women bleaching? :comeon: sounds like sales pitch/propaganda to me.

:ehh: Im not sure of that number either ..but even 30% would still be a disaster when you consider nigeria has 170 million people..most are under 35

Youre probably right on this..i noticed in many of the nollywood movies ive seen the lighter skinned chick usually plays the heroine and the darker one is usually the evil witch...

But then again it may also be a cultural artefact of colonialism ...

Naw nikka, since the begining of colonialism.

Wasn't nobody classifying themselves by skin color til European cacs started enslaving people and stealing land.

the fact that this is even a hot topic is a disaster. i wouldn't believe any number spit out by the media. they're in collusion with the people selling this crap as far as i'm concerned. if folks believe bleaching is more rampant than it actually is then they've achieved their goal. a lasting change in perception of beauty in a culture that has been historically proud of their heritage. now they want these people to think they're ugly and inferior to their lighter, whiter counterparts.

:pacspit: at that bs.

other cultures been emulating blacks forever. getting all types of augmentation and tanning to look like us and less like their original selves. they're the one's with the inferiority complex imo.
