There are two artist actually from Miami who were no brainer headliners pop artist and could’ve easily done the 2020 Super Bowl (Pitbull and Flo Rida). If we really wanted to go down the “hometown” rules angle. JLo, nor Shakira are from Miami.

Wayne being a “no brainer” headliner, had no real traction on the internet save for maybe the coli and some twitter threads. Young Money doesn’t even get along, and Nicki Stan’s have been at Wayne’s(and drakes) necks for their lukewarm feeling towards each other. Nobody, not Nicki, baby, Drake or whoever, was campaigning for Wayne to headline the super bowl. This their one sided beef with kendrick, meg and roc nation rather than vice versa. Nicki has beefed with every female artist and has tried to be the “gatekeeper” of female rap. JayZ helping Meg get up from under that shady Corey Crawford(and by extension J.Prince) deal, is basically the catalyst for all these ppl forming like the avengers on Wayne’s behalf. It’s all performative fake outrage.
You basically made the point. Rih, Weeknd, aren’t legacy acts, who got to perform. Why would that be the rule for every Super Bowl? This has been the order: Rih->(Legacy)Dre->Weeknd->(Legacy)Usher->Kendrick. This “Wayne is a no brainer” shyt is midnight hour, fake outrage rallying cry. Baby trying to be an advocate for Wayne headlining when he extorted that man for the longest and had anti Wayne artist like Thugger up under him, shows how fake all of this is. Master P been had beef with Cash Money for the longest, but now he an advocate too?
