Definitely. It creates categories where there really shouldn't be. A good film that tells a compelling story is a good film.

Financiers are going to think why should we invest into a film that is only marketable to 13.6% of the population. Why should we invest in a wide release and get this film out to anyone who would want to see it?

Yeah I get what she is saying and why studio execs would be foolish to market their product to only a small group.

It's similar too when I here people say that Black Businesses fail because Black people don't support. Well it is foolish to expect the group with the least wealth in America to make you rich. No a dollar does not circulate 2 million times in the Asian community before it leaves and only stay in the Black community for 2 hours or something before it leaves. There are not stats to support that anywhere.

You should be trying to sell your products and services to as many people as possible (especially the groups who have wealth), unless it is something Black specific.
