They must not know Don C did this over a decade ago with Just Don plus he has NFL, NBA, and MLB licensing:mjlol:

He got on because he was in Kanye's circle and had rappers wearing his hats. Then he went on to get deals with Levis, Jordan Brand, Mitchell & Ness, and a position with the Chicago Bulls. The point is that having access to stars gives you an easier path to get put on. If Don C and this woman were nobodies it's an extremely slim chance they're getting licenses.

People are pissed because the NFL is usually  towards people that make their own custom merchandise

But they're letting her do this since Taylor Swift
So they're pissed that a corporation in a capitalist market seized on an opportunity to make even more money......got it

moreso because there's a long, established history of corporations punishing folks who were innovators, only to turn around and capitalize on a similar opportunity down the road, when it fits their timeline and semantics (aka... when they understand the value).

dapper dan is a prominent example. even if louis vuitton made it right decades later.
the way the NFL outlawed custom cleats until after they attached it to a marketing initiative is another.
shyt... look at the history of the so-called king of rock and roll.

we define culture. so when our influence gets remixed or serves as the template for someone else's glow-up... yeah.

But that's their right to do so if you're using their IP. Especially if you're getting money and fame off of it without giving them a cut of it. The Elvis thing is something totally different but those other examples are just common business practice. If you just let people use your stuff for whatever it devalues your brand. You can't navigate business with feelings. That's how you end up out of business

She's married to an NFL player in the SB and gained clout from designer a dress for (who is apparently) the biggest pop star in the world...and she's doing all this in an era where there's more focus on getting women in sports culture than ever before. Yes the fact that she's white helps but there's a lot of other timing and accessibility elements that went in to this.

Maybe if Beyonce had been wearing custom jerseys and dating an NFL player something would have happened sooner when NFL execs looked at the Jordan merchandise and realized how much they can make on clothing.

beyonce def has had moments with custom sports gear (and didn't need a man involved) ... and clearly has established fashion endeavors. they could have easily gave her and her designers/colleagues ... or even other designers some business if they wanted to attract more female customers
they missed the moment and other apparel companies picked up on it :yeshrug: while the nba just sticks to trash baby doll tees and pink color ways lol

Victoria’s Secret’s PINK line used to make cute NFL sweatshirts. I think they now just focus on college sports. This lady getting a branding deal doesn’t necessarily cancel out other women from getting one. But of course opportunity and capital are the biggest barriers for most.

But I think there’s more opportunity for sports apparel aimed at women. Especially because this line will probably be pricey and unaffordable for most women anyway.

Also- a lot of people would benefit from getting off of twitter. It’s a cesspool of people looking to be inflammatory or looking to be offended.
