That's how Gronk's season ended last year. My thing with these players that were suing the nfl, these dudes have been playing ball their whole life how do they know that their time in the NFL was the exact time they started having these issues? Let's be real kids get clocked in Pee wee, middle school, high school and college. Not to be insensitive If I was the NFL I would tell these dudes to :camby: they knew the risks. Now peoples knee's are getting messed up because of it
People's knees getting messed up without contact more than ever now too.

Biggest thing IMO is folks dont know how to tackle.

Would you let your son play football? That's all I have to ask when it comes to discussions like these.

If they're so passionate about this, they should fight to have a say in rules implemented. They could strike. I think the D should randomly strike 1 wk oyt of protest

They didn't know the extent of the risks. The league made a concerted effort to conceal and bury the data of how severe the damage was and to discredit the doctors who published the data. Same thing big tobacco did when it got out that smoking kills you. The league hired a rheumatologist (a joint injury expert) to be the head of their brain injury committee. Their top guy was totally unqualified. That's what the players are suing the league for. The fact that they hid this knowledge from them. Not the fact that they've suffered injuries.

NFL concussions were down last year by more than 10%. The league policy is working. If players want to risk suspension by aiming at the head, that's their prerogative. Get suspended enough and you're cut.
That may be because players were less likely to say anything tho. Back to the technology thing that was brought up. You can have all the tech you want but that won't keep your brain from shifting around if you take a hard shot. Just gotta play smarter IMO. You rarely if ever saw that #88 guy who may or may have not played for the Colts take a kill shot. Kinda bytchmade to see a RB slide but still

Improve helmets and technology...

They did years ago. Kelso with the bills wore the helmet. But riddell with the help of the NFL put the company out of business. The NFL wants its cake and eat it too. There is no way to end concussion unless you remove helmets. They want an MLB type of strike zone but that is impossible because offensive players get small when they know they are going to get hit. So defensive players have to go low and lower. But in a sport that people are paid because of how quick they are and how fast they can move their legs and knew are the most important things to them. You blow their knee out and they have no career.

The problem is the players are too big and their joints aren't made to carry that much weight or have that much explosion. Add to the fact that probably over 90 percent of the league is on PEDs (mainly to recover from injury and workout more) and you have a deadly combination.

I been saying if they really cared about player safety they would ban cut blocks of any kind

lets be honest here the only reason this player safety shyt started is because of the big ass concussion law suit

Play without helmets. Players will be much more careful about using their heads as weapons.

Not only that they will be more careful tackling and jumping in the air. There will be less violent collisions because a player without a helmet doesn't wan heir head to bounce on the turf. But the helmet part is a big marketing tool of the NFL. That is why they won't stop the players fom wearing it.

Maybe its because I never played organized football, but I really don't understand this. The knees are a long way away from the head.:patrice:

Also the league needs to cut down on the passing. Yo pass more the clock stops more and extends the games. That means more potential for even more hits in a game. One way to stop the violent hits is to open the field up like the CFL. But then you still have OL and DL bangin each other every play.

Another thing because of the relaxed passing rules teams pass more and QBs make more dangerous passes in crowed areas that they would have never attempted in years past because defenses were allowed to be more aggressive. These risky passes that they are attempting now often times lead WRs into violent collisions.

Basically if someone tried to hit you.......you would duck. Well that is what happens in football. A WR catches a ball and sees the DBs closing in their first reaction is to duck their head and get small to protect themselves. Well real life ain't the matrix so the DB was originally aiming for the WRs mid section but the WR ducked and got small so that means the DB ends up hitting the WRs head. So the next time the DB will aim even lower to avoid the WRs head when they duck. Except this will probably be close to their thighs or knee to ensure the WR isn't able to duck low enough to get their head in the way.
