That and the invention of the instant replay/challenge era/hd era. Technically it's a penalty on every play but the NFL mastered zooming in at certain times. They know the bad call/missed call brings out the emotions in the person invested in whatever team player etc
Swear to god watch a game without rooting for somebody and it's so obvious
You can watch any game any day of the week and the formula so obvious...it's just more of a reaction in the bigger games but 80 percent of NFL games follow the same formula
