what I’m saying is the combine is trash, because unless that wr from Hampton run a 4.3 or higher a nfl scout really won’t give him a solid look, or if he finished school with a shyt ton of stats, or both, so the combine is pointless, trust if a kid runs a 4.3 the nfl will find them, they found a cat from my small hbcu that ran a 4.3 that’s the only reason the jaguars drafted him late, so the kid that might run a 4.5 but has great stats, will more than likely not get a solid look based solely off of his speed not his actual skill set,
i used my scenario to say you can’t come from an hbcu and hope to get a solid look unless you are an anomaly, run a 4.3 or higher or be 6’5 300 pound lineman putting 225 up 26-30 times and run a 4.6
That’s not really true brother.
First of all, if you made the NFL combine, that means you were one of 300 invited. Displaying great hands and routes and running a 4.51 will get you drafted from any school, because they have your film.
Now, if you are not invited, how the heck are scouts going to have any need to look at your film if you did not put up numbers AND went to a small school? That literally makes no sense.
This combine is a great idea because there will be scouts there from every team. A team and player personnel staff has a much easier time sending groups to one venue at one time then all over the nation on random days.
And again, this isn’t come one come all, this will be selected HBCU athletes - so they will know that the kids at least did well against their competitors, and will have access to film of those that catch their eyes.
It’s rediculous to think that a scout or personnel guy gives a damn about the college you come from or would overlook you in person just because you came from a small school, if you impress physically and mentally - they actually love that more than finding top guys. But pro days at small schools be sh!t shows, I’m keeping it a buck.
