It's a lot of small school and HBCU cats that don't get the opportunity but do really well in the league...

why not have something to showcase them? It's not like many scouts going to HBCU prodays anyway.

I'm all for it:yeshrug:

I know some FAMU guys participate in FSU pro days along with former players. Not sure anyone else does it

You ever read some shyt, and want to hate the fukk out of it, but you can see the benefits so you kinda like it? That's what this is for me. There are already local/regional combines that have been happening for years, but this one will have the NFL spotlight on it now so it will definitely help out more HBCU cats and that's not a bad thing at all.

This is a great idea.

Everyone in this thread complaining has zero idea how the NFL or how scouting works.

Those regional combines...to be completely honest - are BS. A lot of times, players have to pay to participate, and they have no shot of making the NFL. Only once in awhile do players get picked up from a combine like that, and thats if you put up superhuman numbers.

Scouts don't like to go to HBCU's or small schools in general. It's a lot of travel, rural areas and limited conditions to likely see a group of 20 players that are not up to par in any way. They can just go to the bigger programs, and see the small school prospects that dominated their own competition and where invited to the big campus to put in work.

Also, you guys keep conflating NFL owners with totally seperate entities like team scouts, who are regular people like you and I. It's like putting the ideas of Steve Jobs together with some Genius Bar employee in Texas. Scouts are just regular dude paid to travel and grade players, and a lot of them are black, regular dudes.

The HBCU combine puts all these dudes in one place, you know they have the talent because they were invited, and they will all be there at the exact same time - a dream for an NFL scout.

This is 100% going to result in a lot of talented guys who would've been overlooked otherwise into some camps, and that's awesome.

With small schools, esp HBCU's, you don't know which guy had 30 catches and 800 yards because he was average, or 30 catches/800 yards because he has Randy Moss talent but a limiting system. These games aren't televised, and there are 1000+ schools to look at, which obviously 10,000+ players across the US.

This will be great.
