If it was supposed to just represent comedies I actually think it would fit.


A lot of careers were launched off that film.

That's why I feel like it's there. It may not be the funniest (to me anyway) but you can make an argument it's the most important. like you said it launched a lot of careers and outside of the hangover it's the most imitated story now this century for comedies.

Look at the rest of that (largely) obscure ass list though. There's no way they created this list thinking that most of those movies represent a whole genre or style.
