I always forget to bring bags to the grocery store, so I have about 20 reusable "plastic" bags that cost 10 cents each. I use them for carrying my lunch to work or taking out trash.

Also, I have noticed that hole-in-the-wall places still have plastic bags.

No issue with this if it saves the ocean and turtles but it is still funny that there are much worse things affecting yet they are focused on little things like this.
It's a major step forward. Do what you can while you can. It should be done at a National level. We haven't even began to so the full impact from "just" plastic bags on American soil.

I don't get the point. Environmentalists want to cut down on plastic in general, but bags are the low hanging fruit since they're not necessary and so many of them end up back in the environment.

Some stores are voluntarily selling refillable things to cut down on plastic waste. I heard of a Czech supermarket that sells detergent and shampoo by having your refill it.
