I read that with the Hulu deal Seinfeld, Larry David and Warner Bros. split the $180 million. So I assume if Warner buys Seinfeld back then they are really just giving part of that to David/Seinfeld and then banking the rest.

I think the money they're paying is the fee Hulu paid to get Seinfeld on their app plus some other factors. According to the article above, this is why BBT & T&HM have a high price tag

I did some further reading. Apparently Sony TV and Warner have been in discussions on some sort of cable/streaming deal for Seinfeld. Warner is expected to land Seinfeld for HBO Max because basically what they'd be doing is taking money from one arm in the department and shifting it over to another arm as long as Sony, Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David are compensated this is all legal.

So basically because Warner produced most of these sitcoms they can outbid other services because the price tag isn't really the price tag.

$2 billion for three old shows:bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan:

Friends was the most watched show on Netflix. Seinfeld has been huge for Hulu. Disney+ is expecting The Simpsons to do numbers. It's all about content.

HBO Max is doubling their original content output as well. My guess is that there will be two tiers and a bundle package.

I'm gonna predict that they offer a bundle of HBO and DC Universe and Crunchyroll etc. but if you buy HBO Max then you probably will have access to all of it.

Some shows will still be on HBO, some original shows will only be available on the top tier.

I read an article that said just The Big Bang Theory alone brings in $1 billion in syndication revenue for WB.
Oh I'm not disputing it being worth it in this new age of streaming rights. I'm still just floored by how much money these 3 shows are going for.

2 billion is enough to fund the entire run of Game of Thrones, build a theme park with state of the art rides, and fund a Star Wars and Avengers movie.

Just goes to show how important syndication and reruns are to the health and viability of a network and streaming company. People may sub for the new shyt but they stick around for access to the old shyt.
