New Tom Hanks movie "Captain Phillips" might be :whew:...Somali pirates

Looks like Hollywood picked the ugliest Somalis for this flick

they shoulda told the real story (the illegal fishing and nuclear waste that led them to defend their waters from racist cac companies) and used actors that people can recognize and who aren't associated with evil (don't care whether they American or African)

Good flick. They are saying Muse is likely to get a Supporting Actor nomination.. he is up for it tomorrow at the Golden Globes though (my guess is Jared Leto)

I felt yes they should've focused at some point on their backstories, they did for a really shorty period with a few words of dialogue but it couldve expanded.

And stop with the back and forth American propaganda posts. Every film with blacks and whites always leads to it. Unless you can stop it or are making a contribution toward stopping it, just critique the movie.

We got as much backstory for the captain as we did for the Somalis, so that was fair to me. Like United 93 Greengrass is basically doing a realistic reconstruction of a real life event, not trying to give an opinion about it.

Damn, I was hoping the Somali "pirates" would shoot Captain Phillips right in the face before they were killed.. but they didn't. SMH. This, just like Zero Dark Thirty last year, good entertainment but the fakest Hollywooded up bullshyt.

So in real life ol' Cap was just asking for his ship to be hijacked and put his whole crew in danger... what a hero he was

I can kinda understand how Stockholm syndrome can develop now

same, was exactly what I was thinking. Damn, I'm sympathizing with these brehs now? Maybe it's just the "always root for the underdog" thing, got 4 dudes with AK-47s against 3 ships, 100 people, and millions of dollars of technology.

Just finished watching on the fx app. "Meh" at best. Tom hanks weird accent was horrible throughout. Some scenes I couldn't even hear it. The somalis were way too excited in every damn scene. If they had just calmed down like their captain, they probably would have made it. Guess its boring after you know the story of it.....5/10
