I don't think ANYONE buy a Switch right now is losing, honestly. I still have my OG PS4...its perfectly fine.

OG Switch will be perfectly fine. If anything this will prolly have an OLED, better power/heat management and perhaps a different sized screen

To be honest, nothing to not buy a current one if you want one.

Yeah, they want a smaller version out there for the kids and women that want the new Pokemon and Animal Crossing for the holidays. Anyone expecting a really significant upgrade to the hardware need to temper their expectations.
