The only people who get hurt in this is us. They bid with money they dont have, and since they now owe money that they'll forever owe, it raises prices of subscriptions. On flip side, it'll take the owners years to finally see actual residuals from this deal so in mean time they are going to pay these large new contracts out of pocket and to do that will have to raise ticket and concession prices.
Might be too early to tell now, but has anyone mentioned how this will affect leaguepass? I normally subscribe around Christmas for $100.

if it's like MLB, the Peacock /Amazon games won't be available on League Pass

so LP won't be a way to not have to deal with extra streaming services. You'll need those regardless of whether you have LP or not

According to Puck the league had a chance to remove the matching rights during the 2014 tv negotiations but elected not to. Fast forward to 2024 if the contract states WBD has the rights to match then they should be able to match. Kind of hoping it comes back to bite the league/Silver because thats on them for idiotically not getting rid of the matching rights when many around the league office wanted them to :manny:

Anyone saying Peacock is "comparable" to Max is flat out lying lol... Max has way more subscribers.

Peacock is really just overflow for NBC Network, which is why all these sport leagues want to work with them… NBC is willing to use the network in ways others aren’t

Losing the NBA would be a blow for Warner Bros. Discovery, which could lose about $600 million in profit from advertising and a potential decrease in cable affiliate fees if it loses the NBA, Wolfe Research media and entertainment analyst Peter Supino told MarketWatch earlier this week.

Warner Bros. Discovery shares have fallen 23% this year.

The NBA is not worth this money. Its not worth this money because the government allows companies already severely in debt to make outlandish bids to keep out fresh younger companies that cant match fake bids.

Only Amazon truly can generate enough money to afford this.

Warner Bros/Discovery and Disney are so far in debt they will never be able to recoup on their debts in our life time or the next life time. Its sad the government keeps allowing large companies to make purchases with fake money.

Government should only allow companies bidding on large purchases such as this with actual liquid cash.

Filthy business all around.

This goes for all large purchases not just NBA.

Disney is fukking $50 billion in debt before this deal. They will never, ever be able to pay off their debt.

When does the government step in ?
majority in Congress are millionaires and shills for Corporate Lobbyists.

you talking to a wall.

the rich run this country and it's leading to the current downfall.

but that's a whole nother subject.

all of this is clownery.
