Something based in the 80s/early 90s would work in this regard, since mob violence was still off the chain during those years. Would be way more intense than The Sopranos.

Even the level of violence on the Sopranos was arguably anachronistic. There was a murder in roughly every episode like they were still in the 80s.

An 80s-90s Boardwalk Empire with real characters/stories would be GOAT potential

True. Mob murders became rare by the years The Sopranos ran. There were full-blown mob wars going on in the early 90s.
Yeah the Colombo’s were going at it hard in the early 90’s, when Persico went away, Vic Orena thought he could sway the capos to pledge allegiance to him and become boss, a lot of people died, Greg Scarpa was still out there hunting, that’s when he lost his eye. He caught aids when he needed a blood transfusion, and someone in his crew donated blood to him, which gave him the bug

Who gives a shyt about this Italian mob shyt anymore :russell:

This has become what Westerns did in the 60s/70s. It's rinsed and done to death already but Hollywood nostalgists won't let it go. Imagine if they invested the resources they're about to put into this into a fresher concept.
