New mafia drama coming to Showtime from “Sopranos” and “Goodfellas” writers

Sometimes writers have to take what they're given early on. Looking at his IMDB he didn't create those shows, he just wrote episodes here and there.
You can tell by the movies he wrote and the shows he created and produced as real indicators of his skill or interests. Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Get Rich or Die Tryin, Vinyl and Wolf of Wall Street are all either period or crime related.

I believe the original idea was for Nucky to remain just a corrupt politician who had his hands in the alcohol racket.Jimmy was supposed to be his conduit to the streets. All of the gangster/ crimeboss stuff would've went through Jimmy not Nucky. The same way Chalky was Nucky's link to the Black community in AC. There wasn't a real life Chalky White, the real Nucky Johnson had a Godfather type of relationship with the black people of AC. So if Michael Pitt wasn't being an unbearable a$$hole to his co-stars we would've seen more of Luciano or hell even Mickey(the guy he's based on ran Philly and AC and wasn't some goofy coward) calling the shots.

even though it's in Italian...a great modern crime show for brehs would be Gomorrah

& honestly, if you're going to do a modern day crime show that appeals to today's ADD audiences, you'd probably have to do it overseas as then the violence becomes more realistic as it happens more frequently...I personally prefer a slower pace show with character building

Why do all these mob dramas have to be about the Italian mafia which has been done to death. You should watch some documentaries about old school British gangsters in England. They're more interesting and would make for better television.
