We banned them over a year ago. It was a minor inconvenience for a while and now I have a ton of reusable bags because I repeatedly forget to keep one in the car for impromptu stops but ultimately it's a worthwhole change for the environment. Those reusable bags are like 1-5 dollars and many stores now have recyclable bags for 10 or 20 cents. Theyll get used to it
the ones the stores sell tend to be cheaply made. search online for a heavy duty tote bag or heavy duty canvas bag.

The hand baskets are collateral damage. Some of the places gave away reusable bags when the plastic ban started because they did research. They knew it would cause a loss some other way.

They should put those security tags and monitors on the cart, you know those ones that beep if they don't take it off. I think that would be a decent deterrent.

One store near me just got rid of baskets altogether. Another store the fukking slobs just leave the baskets in the parking lot.
